Frequently Asked Questions

What is person-centred counselling?

1

Person-centred counselling is based on the belief that you are the expert on your own life. I won’t judge your decisions or tell you what I think you should do. Instead, I will offer warmth, acceptance and a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings freely. Together, we can help you develop a clearer understanding of yourself, your needs and what feels right for you.

How much do counselling sessions cost?

2

Each counselling session costs £50 and lasts for 50 minutes. Payment is made by bank transfer before the session. There is no obligation to attend a certain number of sessions, we can discuss this as we go along to ensure that sessions still feel beneficial for you. I will always encourage you to book a final session with me so that we can bring the work we have done together to a proper close.

What does a counselling session with you look like?

3

You don’t need to arrive with a plan or know exactly what you want to talk about. You can bring whatever feels most important to you that day, and we will explore it at your pace. I will listen carefully and may reflect things I notice or gently invite you to explore something further. There are no exercises to complete and no pressure to reach a particular conclusion. The session is your space.

What issues can counselling help with?

4

You may be experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, relationship difficulties, low mood, loss of confidence or a sense that you have lost touch with who you are. I also support women navigating motherhood, challenging co-parenting situations, separation, loss and significant life changes. Or you may simply arrive knowing that something doesn’t feel right for you.

Where do sessions take place?

5

Sessions take place online using Google Meet or by telephone, so you can access counselling from anywhere in the UK. You will need a private space where you feel comfortable speaking and are unlikely to be interrupted.

Counselling sessions usually take place weekly but if having them fortnightly would suit you better, please let me know. I am able to work flexibly, meaning that you do not have to attend sessions on the same day and time unless this is something you would prefer.

6

How often will we meet?

Once you have got in touch, we will arrange a free 20-minute telephone conversation before you decide whether to begin counselling. This gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what has brought you to counselling, ask any questions and get a sense of whether I might be the right counsellor for you. There is no obligation to book a session afterwards.
